didnt expect to see the word 'haram' in HN forum with an international audience :)
what does Sharia have to do with this ?
Iran is in a specific situation right now. Unlike Saudi Arabia or Lennon, Islam practices are mandatory in public. Things like wearing hijab. As you might or might not expect, this have reverse effect in practice. It also lowered islam's repetitation in our culture. I would say more than half of Iranian yought do not believe in Islam. As a result you will see less violence against women from Iranian people. it's hard to find young Iranian in the USA or Canada that still practices Isla
Its a sin for Muslims. Why would it apply to non-muslims ?
You mean like the French banning burkinis worn my religious minorities?https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/21/europe/grenoble-france-burkin...

This is not crititicism of islam, there are many muslims, who do not lock up their doughters.
I understand this. It's just that absolute non religious society is not possible, and western world has christian roots still. My 2 cents, own it and say it upfront: 90% secular, except for a few exception. Also I find hijab to be a lot more invasive than most inherited clothing. I can accept that this is just my subjective perception but it still catches my attention more than others (christian or not)
Well it's condoned by a major world religion and most of the countries that espouse that religion. Good luck changing the opinions of a billion people.
