Have you considered saving up enough money to quit and give yourself 3-6 months to find a job you enjoy?
25 yo developer (Full stack dev), single, no debt, $15k savings. Here is what I am not going to do:- Travel- Have fun- Meet new people- Get out of my comfort zone.Instead, I am going to quit my job and research artificial intelligence full time: coursera, hacking on personal projects and hackerspaces. (And at least 1 hour of sport everyday for social/health). When my savings are blown, I'll try to get a job at numenta or vicarious. If this fails, go back to devweb
I'm about to start doing this very thing. I've got enough money in the bank to last me for quite some time at my current burn rate. I'm planning a 6 month break to start learning guiter and piano, as well as surfing and working on a couple of my startup ideas and I guess I'll see how it goes from there. I haven't had a prolonged period of time where I have had no obligations in years and I'm not sure how long I can sustain such a break.Anyway, I wish you luck in your own endeavor. It seems ra

28yo Web Dev, married (with babies), no debt, corporate JOB (just over broke, one month of expenses in my bank)"What would YOU do?"I'd definitely go travelling. See the world. Understand culture / problems / what drives people.Suggestion - http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Hackbase - get yourself to Canary Islands (plenty of cheap RyanAir flights from the UK) and figure what to do
What the hell ?Yes do it ! You re gonna move in a less expensive place, just stop working, you can live at least 1year without working if you cut your expenses, it will give you all the time to figure out what to do with your life. And if you finish nowhere after 1year, just get an other of your boring stressfull, high paying job !If you are too scared and don't want to "loose" 70-100k by not working, just find a part-time job, work like 2days per week as a freelance, it wil
You probably have some savings. Quit work. Take a few weeks or months off. Pick up some old or new hobbies. Then decide.
Hi, a software developer here. I also feel like you. Started coding very young, then uni, first job, first team leader position, then moved to Europe for 5 years working in big companies ( and saving as much as I could). Now I'm back home in Latin America. Built a couple of houses cash with savings, got married. But I'm bored so I spend my time playing with my 3d printer and home automation little projects in my spare time. I don't think I will last much longer working on somethi
Save up a bit for say 6 months and take a break. Explore your interests and see if any of your exploratory projects can be monetized.
