Thoughts on the conservative garbage collector? How often is it a problem?

azth May 6, 2014 View on HN

GC is not the answer to everything.

shakna Dec 20, 2019 View on HN

The Boehm GC seems to do both internally.

It's tricky even with a GC.

p0nce May 15, 2019 View on HN

Having a GC doesn't "sacrifice performance" in itself

thedeemon Dec 21, 2016 View on HN

A simpler language with a GC makes it go away.

GC is not easier when you care about how and when memory is allocated/deallocated

azinman2 Nov 20, 2015 View on HN

Few applications need this... mostly in the financial space. The GC is quite good at quick temp objects these days.

amedvednikov Oct 19, 2019 View on HN

There will be no GC, see my reply above.

hellofunk Feb 7, 2017 View on HN

The risk of memory problems don't disappear because of any form of GC. The problems are just different, and leaks are still quite possible.
