Out of curiosity, why don't you have the old url just point to the new one?
The old URLs arenβt kept around to redirect to the new location?
Yea a few years ago they changed the format of the urls without redirecting the old urls. Weak sauce.
Even if they redirect to a new url, there are still links everywhere using the original url which they probably wouldn't want to break.
What if you returned a 301 to the new URL? You'd think Google would have logic to get that kind of hint.
You might want to fix the links so the old URLs work again.
The site owner asked us to replace the original URL you had with a static one in the hope of taking some strain off the web server, so we've done that. I hope that's ok.
The old URLs redirect as far as I can tell.
Couldn't they do a redirection (301) to not break code ?
A redirect would be helpful so the old links still work.
