AI 3D Mesh Generation
The cluster centers on debates about AI-generated 3D models, specifically whether they produce editable polygonal meshes or use alternatives like Gaussian Splats and NeRFs, with discussions on rendering, conversion, efficiency, and accuracy.

We're not stuck on meshes. Check out neural radiance fields as an alternative.
3D in what sense? You think they're doing actual mesh generation?
Meshes are editable. Are Gaussian splats?
There are AI models who can create proper meshes though.
MeshAnything generates meshes with hundreds of times fewer faces, significantly improving storage, rendering, and simulation efficiencies, while achieving precision comparable to previous methods.
does it make a mesh?doesn't seem very accurate, no idea of the result with a photo of large scene, that could be useful for level designers
It seems that they're not real-time renderable. There could be a method of converting these to polygons + materials for real-time rendering.
Not for generating 3d models I don’t think.
My understanding is that it is not mesh, it’s Gaussian Splatting. There are tools to convert Splats into mesh though.
Cant wait for the "multimodal" version that can take a written description and generate meshes
