is he not worried about getting in trouble for divulging this?
People are reading too much into my comment, then. I didn't imply anything, actually - I made a comparison and provided no detail that could lead a conclusion, other than the idea that he wants to be visible, and questioning that decision.Your first reason doesn't make sense because all the other leaks by secret leakers have caused uproar and changes, so a person behind them isn't necessary, clearly.Your second reason doesn't make sense because as long as nobody finds o
I know someone here in the UK who signed the official secrets act (terminology wrong but you get me) and it was made intimidatingly (I use that word precisely) clear to them that blabbing had bad consequences. I'm sure it's the same or worse elsewhere, so this all looks odd. Could it possibly be a somewhat plausible way to release helpful (mis)information? It just seems so odd otherwise.
Very telling what he said on The Joe Rogan Experience, that he has found things that are so jaw dropping that he can't point them out because it would get him killed. But then he has some young nerds with no history dealing with that "sensitive" information putting them in a place where they can then extort those people, or sell that information to others. That it would then go against the cause, because it would stop his important work, he said.So I wonder how he's tr
I don't think it is as insane as you might think. He is guessing that the government would figure out who it was that leaked the information and then they would come after him.The original law was on incredibly shaky ground however and the goverment isn't likely to want this issue to end up in court ever, so they would have to either terminate him (the nine-milimeter kind of termination) or prosecute him for child porn or something like that, or disappear him. Right now his name is
I can't imagine why he would do something like that, in the open. After all he needs any friends he can get! But even if he was to break his promise of not releasing any more info, it would make more sense if he did it "under the radar". I think he is quite capable of that. Or maybe, he could do it while the Russians are looking the other way :)
You're right, he merely shared his opinion, and look what happened to him! If someone leaked info they would probably face even harsher treatment.
" I think there's a difference between what really motivated him to leak & what he's leaked out of self-preservation"It could also refer to, what he did NOT leaked." Who else could he need self-preservation from?"To not land on a certain list, some people openly joked about wanting to put him on? I also do remember some remarks, how he did not leaked everything he had, so he had some backup(at his lawers/friends) to be leaked, in case he suddendly
My theory is that he had to balance the journalistic scoop of the century with the risk of being arrested for illegally accessing/storing classified information. If they had noticed before he published the story then he could have been vanned and the public told that he had infiltrated a secure channel, and who would be able to say otherwise? MAGA people would cheerfully call for his execution.
Yes, wouldn't the document still be used against him even if he just leaked to journalists.
