this is a weirdly anti art view of music as a whole, do you just not enjoy organized sound?

are you saying you appreciate music less now? or are you policing others' appreciation?

ttapp May 10, 2023 View on HN

The statement might be hyperbole. But most people seem to need vocals in their music, like kind of an anchor. I mostly listen to instrumental music, and have always found it difficult to share that interest.

If music is just auditory wallpaper anyway, why distinguish?

This kind of music speaks to me in ways beyond what I feel from most "mainstream" music. Not liking it is fine, but please don't denigrate my enjoyment of it. It kills curious discussion. What is your definition of "actual music"?

snapcaster Jun 3, 2024 View on HN

Why? I'm not a music person so can't pick up on what you're signaling here

vectorpush Mar 23, 2012 View on HN

Certainly, if you don't personally enjoy it then it doesn't qualify as music.

rooam-dev May 28, 2020 View on HN

Yes, same as people like good music :)

singhrac Jul 31, 2020 View on HN

It's not comparable - music is art.

MrBra Nov 18, 2016 View on HN

Nah, I just like good music. If you don't, you can't understand this.
