Doesn’t US students mostly live in dorms…?
Not every university / university class is big. Most likely explanation is that they simply said they live together.

My university required freshmen to live in dorms. Many colleges do.
There are a bunch of college students who own and care for houses that are better than yours.
College dorms seem to be able to solve this problem, so it should be doable for adults as well.
Some colleges do let students live off campus. Mine did.
Social scene in college is pretty hard to beat
Sounds like the students are partying outside of school hours and the professors aren't. Also dorm/shared living can't be helping either.
