Having this not directly link to the site & instead having to read this, copy & paste the url into the browser...unacceptable
Adding 'noreferrer' to the link would fix it.

Weird, can a mod change the link to https? That seems to be working - https://home.google.com/
they do? i just tested it. its just standard html anchor tags, all automated so i cant screw it up. perhaps try in incognito?
If the workarounds are so commonly accepted, can you start automagically editing the links to be the google/url redirect bypass then?

Yep, it's probably the deep linking protection. It probably doesn't like the HN referer
