Why don't you want a software defined radio?

pautech Feb 1, 2013 View on HN

look at HackRF, it may be better, if it gets released

could rtl-sdrs and rpitx be used at all?

kweks Jul 2, 2016 View on HN

The BladeRF or the upcoming LimeSDR can handle this.

Since we're on HN, how about an RTLSDR, a Pi, and op25?

Why can't we just get a software-defined radio in the hardware...

Can you do this with software defined radios?

HAM Radio or SDR! It's worth picking up something as inexpensive as a Baofeng or RTL2832U transceiver, even just to listen on common frequencies.

Perhaps they could be used with an rtl-sdr device?

Any recommended resources to get started with SDR?
