Hey, thanks for "Close Discarded Tabs", it's precisely what was missing :-)

Don’t need it, check “open previous windows and tabs" aka save-session on the first page of prefs.

Your best bet is probably to either find/build a userscript or just never close your tab.

Because I'm not closing it. I'm closing the tab. Opening chrome takes a few seconds to open which is annoying when I want to quickly google something without loosing focus.

browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab = false should fix that.

The Firefox extension "Auto Tab Discard" is what you're looking for. Not sure about equivalents for other browsers.

Close you tabs and use your browser's history function to find them back if you really need them.

I don't like how chrome of firefox does tab closing. When I close a tab, it can take a few seconds, and it feels like I missed the tiny button, so I click it again. Of course, this happens just as the tab is closed, and I end up closing the next one as well. Very thankful for history of clsoed tabs.
