I don't know if this was your intention, but you posted this under your real name. Under the same account you posted an article that gives away your ex-employer.If it is intentional, then why not say the company in the post?
Judging by your comment history, I would say that you might want to disclose who your employer is...
You're also disparaging your employer on HN and disclosing things they would likely consider company confidential material. Not a great look, and some risk of becoming "Ex-Meta" if you keep doing this sort of thing and they identify you.
would you care to discuss the private details of your employers internal workings in a public forum or with a journalist then?no?
Why is it stupid to talk about non-confidential aspects of your job in public?
We can all admit that here anonymously, but how would your employer feel if they knew this?
Because their workplace might be normal but the wider web is not so a comment like this could hurt future job opportunities. Especially on HN where you are not able to delete your account or comments.
My guess is you're right. Many companies have terms in their employee agreements limiting what employees can say/post about the company publicly, including via social media, YouTube, and so on. Many are extremely restrictive and enforced regularly. For example, good luck finding a non-throwaway HN poster self-identifying as an Apple employee. I don't talk about my employer here or even contribute to threads about it. These agreements are very common, check your employment agreemen
Kids, don't try this at home! That is, don't take it upon yourself to discuss your company's business without management approval. It will often get you fired. On the other hand, this post makes the company look good, as far as I can tell, so the author is probably safe.
I want to respect the privacy of my employer, and not connect my public discussions to them, but I'd be happy to move over to a non-public discussion if you want to talk more about where I am working and what we are up to... let me know a good way to reach out to you if you would like to head that direction.
