Why not just use text messages?
Just curious here but sometimes some things are just much easier/faster to communicate using talk. Text just doesn't cut it. Don't you feel that way?
Why not just text them? It works everywhere.
Yeah, nobody would use a text only communication platform.;-)
don't feel bad - i don't get it either - doesn't add material value over email or texts, or skype, or any of the other tools we have - i think it may just be a millenial thang...
Like 'Zecc said, maybe they don't care about the third parties present. Or maybe they want everyone to be a part of the conversation, which is often fine. Or maybe they talk about emotional matters. But text is a pretty fine form of communication and I find myself using it very often at work (and at home I often talk this way to people not in the same room, but in the same flat). It's fast, it's convenient, it's less disrupting, and the only reason to avoid it a
Most people I know prefer texting to talking on the phone. It's easier to multitask or defer your response. Video communication is even more invasive than audio. I seriously doubt that communicating with your peers by text is now considered archaic will hold true (at least compared to video).
I'm near your age. Voice mail is slow and imprecise compared to text. If someone has a callback number I have replay it 2 or 3 times to get it written down assuming I can hear them clearly. Text is clear and unambiguous. If you want to talk in real time, let's use video. This is why I haven't had a phone in my house or at my desk for 2 years.
text is good for one-way information sending, but I've found that when you need to actually discuss something, a 3 minute phone call can replace a 15 e-mail exchange.
To each their own. There are people like me who prefer text communication and the affordability to answer them when convenient, instead of being pressured to leave everything you're doing to attend a real-time call.
