Wasn't it more about the price being higher than visiting a movie theater?

Moviepass or not, I would like to see a theater which sells concessions at reasonable prices.

I will be honest the only draw of going to a theater is to see a new release. If they let me stream it form $30 one time to my home I would much rather do that.I don't enjoy the movie theater experience, kids being noisy, 25+ minutes of previews, and most importantly not being able to pause the movie to go to the bathroom!

People find value in movie theaters even when the actual content is exactly the same as the DVD. People even get together to watch movies sometimes :)

I like this idea.I don't have Netflix subscription. Because where I live Netflix catalogue is laughable - this is one of the reasons. Anyway, that's another matter.I really like watching films in theatres and prices are going sky high. Some of the films turn out to be really bad and I would rather like to leave in the middle (of course not walking out abruptly blocking others' views). Something like MoviePass could be very handy to me.

"more than they would be willing to pay if normal movie theaters were open" seems like the safe bet.

The movie industry never want that. If you go to a movie theater with your friends, everyone has to buy their own ticket. However, if you can share a movie, a lot of people can split the cost of a single viewing.

I have a nice television, but I still prefer going to a good theater to see movies. There are a few theater operators that have figured out that just showing the movie and selling expensive popcorn isn't good enough. They have to have comfortable seats, decent food, great drinks, rules against talking and using phones, and reserved seating. When the experience is good, I'll pay to see movies I already know well. For example, I just went to see the original Blade Runner two weekends a

Sounds like back in the day it was still expensive to go to the theater.

How is this remotely profitable? Movie tickets where I live are pushing $20 a ticket as all the theaters have been re-done as up-scale theaters with padded reclining chairs and/or food service because the standard model of cheap seats packed in as tightly as possible with the smallest screen tolerable doesn't seem to be working anymore. Even the tightly run Arclight theaters are little more than lipstick on a pig at this point. Tolerable, but nothing special. If I had to bet, I'
