Why are third party cookies allowed at all?

mwsherman Sep 24, 2011 View on HN

Wouldn’t disabling third-party cookies take care of this? (And many other questionable things?)

Isn't blocking all third party cookies still better after all?

not_kurt_godel Mar 28, 2018 View on HN

How is this different/better than just disabling all third-party cookies?

carey Apr 24, 2010 View on HN

Isn’t this what enabling "block all third-party cookies without exception" in Chrome or disabling "accept third party cookies" in Firefox does?

iza Jun 3, 2023 View on HN

Users are free to block third party cookies.

I disabled third party cookies in Chrome. Doesn't this basically do the same?

driverdan Dec 11, 2013 View on HN

Disabling 3rd party cookies works just fine. I've been doing it for years.
