IKEA Furniture Quality

your life experience is derived from a commercial furniture shop that sells homogenous timber-plastic furniture. maybe you should stop thinking about ikea

IKEA is replaceable furniture. You don't take it with you.

From "quality" perspective, don't imitiate Ikea :)

I suspect that other options aren't quite better than Ikea

I recently visited an Ikea store, and most of the furniture they had on display did not resemble the type of furniture that I associate with Ikea (which is cheap, wood, self-assembled kits or modules that are easy to repair or disassemble for moving). Their offerings have changed a lot over the years, perhaps their show rooms vary according to location, and maybe people are choosing what to buy based upon different criteria these days.

At Ikea, you need to know what to look for. The drawers are a problem. Solved by specifically looking for sturdier drawers.

I bet Ikea could come up with something.

one thing to realize with Ikea is that they have different tiers of items. their hardboard furniture is somewhat disposable (and not disassemblable). their metal and plastic items, otoh are pretty indistructable.
