Shouldn’t he have stayed in Russia where he wouldn’t be extradited to the US? It appears he may be extremely arrogant so perhaps he thought he would get away with it.
Bullshit. He didn't flee to Russia. He was fleeing through Russia, and we made it plain we'd down any plane we thought he might be on. What is he supposed to do? Leak Russian secrets? At this point, there's no good he can do better than remaining free and remain vocal - and that's what he's doing.
Maybe he understood that things got serious and doesn't want to get extradited to USA.
>"fled with stolen information to China then Russia"Typical misconception, sad to see it on HN.He did not flee to Russia, he got stuck on his way, because the US revoked his passport. Russia was the only country who could stand up to the US. Few other countries dared to offer him asylum.Unfortunate it had to be Russia, given their civil liberties record, but he HAD NO INTENTION of going there.
Not odd at all. If he'd gone to a country with good US relations he would have been extradited. Russia and China don't want to be seen giving into requests from the US so along with Latin America were two of the safest places for him.
I doubt he goes to the US. I feel Russia will offer asylum.
I think it's pretty obvious why. He's between a rock and a hard place. He was not beyond the reach of the US on allegations of spying releasing government secrets and a whole bunch of other laws he broke in order to become a whistleblower against the government's illicit programs --the only place which provided him refuge was Russia. No one else would take him. What do you expect, that he bite the cruel hand that feeds him? Be realistic.PS. that's a very unwarranted s
Snowden was trapped in Russia after his passport was cancelled en route to Latin America. In any case the US government doesn't like whistleblowers so i don't understand the big deal with running away.
Hopefully he's making his was to a country with not extradition back to the States.
He was hiding from extradition to the US. It's incredible that this is not obvious to you.
