Why is Google immune to Anti-competition laws?
Isn't this anti-competitive behavior? I could see some people making a case against Google...
Do note that google engaged in anti-competitive practices to discourage other stores emerging.
I am thinking "A pattern of anti-competitive actions leveraging Google's control in multiple parts of the web ecosystem to limit competition." Will this fly in the US?
This was clearly the idea. Google doesnt like competition.
Thanks, that helped me find this which does sound like it:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antitrust_cases_against_Google...
Perhaps this is an attempt by Google to show it's not anti-competitive?
Some sort of competition related action would be the obvious answer. Google is using their market power to harass an alternative to their data collection funded services.
False; Google wants everyone like them to keep them away from the competition.Edit: it's unfair to single Google out. It's unfortunately the correct game theory and impossible to regulate.
Sort of. Google is more vulnerable in some ways because they allow options, but then engage in tactics to prevent other stores being set as the default. They lost a case earlier this year or last year related to it.Effectively, by having choice they allow for competition. But by then trying to ensure their dominance despite that choice, it turns into anti competitive behaviour.
