The cluster focuses on discussions of bugs and defects in Intel and AMD CPUs, such as errata, microcode issues, and hardware faults causing crashes or segfaults, often debating if they are hardware problems versus software bugs and sharing workarounds like BIOS tweaks or replacements.

This bug isn't in the CPU, it's in the PCH.
It's strange that Intel hasn't fixed this yet.
It seems like it happens only on some select cpu specimens (apparently works after replacing cpu with another one of the same model), so probably a small binning failure?
Nah, it's just the well-known issue with the microcode being buggy. There's nothing new really.
Or it's a hardware issue and they don't have any way to do a microcode fix for this
Potentially related to this issue over 5 years ago? https://it.slashdot.org/story/12/03/06/0136243/amd-confirms-...
Well, it's a hardware defect in some memory modules. Same types of tricks can be used to trigger nany kinds of hw bugs in various CPUs and other chips.
Why? It's not an OS bug. It's a hardware bug.
Is this issue only of concern for Intel with Linux? What about OSX, BSD or Windows?
Would this qualify as more CPU errata?
