What’s wrong with using AI to write something?
why? ai writing is one of the few places where ai might actually be good. topic choice, inwriting, editing are also huge things.
AI only helps writing in so far as checking/suggesting edits. Most people can write better than AI (more engaging). AI cant tell a human story, have real tacit experience. So it is like saying my champaigne bottle cant keep up with the tap water.
"The AI can generate credible writing, but only because writing, and our expectations for it, has become so unaspiring."
AI might be able to write a "bog", but copy-editing seems still worth having ;)
it's a fun project, but the actual output makes me think of my favourite quote about AI writing - "if no one could be bothered to write it, I certainly can't be bothered to read it"
In times of AI Writing, writing manually is more important than ever. As with many AI Generated texts, I’d rather see the prompts, it would have more soul and character than the output.I couldn’t agree more with the sentiment of this article.Writing yourself, _writing manually_ is much nicer, to hear your unfiltered thoughts, than condensing them through an LLM, and get average-sounding sentences with no soul. To me, LLM writing is soulless. I even started to turn to Grammarly and Copilot,
If you can ask "an AI" to write you a story, why can't you write it yourself?
AI writing tends to be bland and repetitive. So if this encourages people to not write like an AI then that's a win
What's the lesson being taught? If it's how to use AI, then sure. If it's how to write, then I'm not sure what value AI brings.
