Wouldn't an ID check or similar on arrival be sufficient?
My most recent trip they were no longer asking for ID, just the boarding pass. They already have everyone’s photos.
I've been through face scanning for several years in CDG, AMS and LAX, during the immigration check. Not sure what's new.
Yes of course but without the passport scan + fingerprint + travel authorization.
Why is there an identity check for a domestic flight anyway?
ID verified printing out of a new boarding pass is the back up. Or cut out the middle man and just check ID, then let them on.
I traveled recently with Clear Plus PrecheckIn one airport I noticed I didn't have to show my ID at all, only boarding pass (QR code on my phone). On the return leg I didn't even have to scan my boarding pass.As someone who hasn't got real ID yet, this Is a good hack for me.
You still need to present ID to get through security, so they'll still know who got on the plane.
They didn't verify the passenger's identity at the gate?
Can you go end to end (buy ticket, get boarding pass, pass security, and get on the plane) without ever giving ID?
