Wait, when did Rails become old or uncool?

You should learn a bit about Rails. It wont be strange that people still use it.

Rails isn't a silver bullet, but this doesn't show that it is any worse than anything else

Rails is still a thing? Wow thought everyone moved on to Go and Node.js.

Because nobody wants to be the next Rails.

I've worked on many Rails apps that are still out there in critical spots. My gut feel is it has stabilized. The hype was well-founded; it allows dev velocity that I still haven't seen in any other environment.I once worked on the integration of an existing Rails app into an existing C# webapp (both living side-by-side, kind of a split-application thing, but seamless to the end user). It was almost hilarious how many LOC the C# teams (!) were having to write for every LOC I (alone)

I keep hearing good things about Rails. What are the downsides, other than learning a new language and framework?

This article mentioned Rails is on the decline in popularity. Anyone have any thoughts on the truth of that?

That's your experience, many think it was a fresh air using Rails than using Java for webdev.

You're right, I stand corrected. Interesting that this aspect hasn't been hyped up more when people mention Rails.
