Well, yeah, not every language uses the Latin alphabet.
This is just your monoculture speaking. Transliterations between alphabets are actually mentioned in the article, did you read it? Nobody added anything to their alphabet, alphabets are invented and then grow and shrink organically.
Cyrillic would fit so much better.

Americans telling Slavic speakers what's a more natural alphabet. Feels like a parallel to something.
Anecdotally, it's slightly easier for Greeks and Bulgarians/Russians/etc. than for those of us whose languages use the latin alphabet with diacritics. The transliteration is generally standardised and English speakers tend to avoid even trying to use the other alphabet.
Seems you already have cyrillic alphabet everyone uses.
