I think it has to do with frameworks like SwiftUI.
I guess that means we should expect AppKit and SwiftUI to never improve.
It looks like SwiftUI just gives a better interface to Appkit and UIKit than before.
SwiftUI is more realistic actually. UIKit, much tougher (more mature, more tied to the IOS ecosystem).
Except SwiftUI is itself built on top of AppKit/UIKit.
It's been a while since I last looked at SwiftUI on mac, Is it really still that bad ?

I suggest you take a look at SwiftUI. IMO itβs much nicer to work with than react
