Don't use jpeg format for this stuff, you'll end up just looking at blocking artifacts. Use PNG.

PNG works quite well on these kinds of images too.
The JPEG artifacts here really hurt. A png would also have been smaller probably.
PNG is lossless, so it really does.
Please at least use png, jpg is terrible for compressing images of text.
