I got a System76 last year and I have no urge to go back to Windows. I was worried from prior experience with desktop Linux 10+ years ago that I'd be suffering a constant toll of minor breakage and annoyances, but it's been a lovely experience. (It's also possible that every Linux DE these days is this good, I only have a single sample.)

I recently switched to Linux (from Windows 10 - forced upgrade took 45' in the middle of an extremely important moment)Debian netinstall + Mate desktop (Gnome 2/3 extension?)I expected to switch back within a week. Surprisingly, I love it. After a few tweaks and Nvidia drivers installed, it's way better than I expected. Super fast, minimal, and no annoyances.Linux desktop really has improved in the last 20 years, since I last tried it.

I used to give Linux desktop distros a shot every few years for a long time but would always get fed up with something not working or not being able to run some games. The last time I have switched back to Linux (Mint, not PopOS) was around three months ago, it's been a very pleasant experience with comparably few glitches (some that have been fixed with updates, some that I am still dealing with) and I don't have any plans going back to Windows any time soon, if ever.

I've been using Linux on my laptops and servers for years, but finally switched my desktop computer to Linux a few weeks ago. It was my last computer not running Linux.I had played around with Gentoo years ago but decided on Arch. It has been great. I'm using Suckless software and it is easier than ever with Bakkeby's flexipatch system to try out all the different patches.Admittedly, it isn't for everyone. Most people I know (including devs) don't care to go relati

Just here to say it's been Linux on my Desktop for years and I like it a lot. Not perfect, but certainly better than the alternatives.

If you are tired of fighting with your own computer, consider switching to Linux. It's been working flawlessly for years for me.

I switched from Windows to Linux back in 2018, and yes, I have never looked back.Although tech savvy, I opted for Linux Mint because it was the most reliable distro out there that required minimal babysitting. Then I switched to Pop OS for OOTB NVIDIA GPU support, and it has been working seamlessly.I might get a Mac in the future. But Windows is out of consideration.Linux experience is seamless for me (apart from some fan issues).

After trying Linux on and off for 20 years, only to go back to Windows after a day or so, I feel it's finally usable enough that I ditched Windows a few months ago after using it for 25 years. Linux has come a long way and I'd argue it's much more usable than XP now.

For years I'd go back between Windows and Linux, but sometime after 2018 or so I stopped even "going back" altogether. I've been able to daily Linux, my bar is high too. If it doesnt work OOTB I go back to Windows or to a distro that does. I'm not wasting any time fighting a broken OS.I think the era of Linux on the Desktop is already here, just wish BestBuy would sell System76 towers, might push it further along.

I started my journey with linux at the age of 12 when Canonical was sending out free CD's of Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04. After nearly 13 years of usage I am a happy user of Windows 10 now. My reasons are:* Horrible font rendering that makes me not even want to code* Terrible application support* Audio and touchpad support is noticeably superior on Windows* Small things that you have to tinker with in order to get everything set upBut the most important thing is that I am just ti
