This doesn't work like you think it does but even if it did, do you have the money to sustain several years long legal battle against OpenAI?
> This could be important if there is any litigation made against Mick for this post if they attempt to destroy him financially by going to court. The problem is, every lawsuit - even if the facts are on your side - still has a chance of going belly-up at least partially and making you responsible for even a part of the opposing party's lawyer costs as judges have quite a bit of leeway in many jurisdictions on distributing cost between parties. Big companies routinely abuse this threat
It costs many thousands of dollars to bring a lawsuit in the US, and you will almost certainly lose against a huge corporation with their own legal team. They can simply outspend you until you give up.
You'd have to have a real lock on it to get anybody but a shady lawyer to take it on. It's very unlikely that you'd be able to do that under almost any circumstance. So it might discourage _some_ abuse, but not much.
Even if they know they would lose in court, lawsuits are expensive enough that threatening to sue or filing a lawsuit is often enough to get people without deep pockets to do whatever you want.I don't know if that was the reasoning in this case though, considering that they didn't drop the lawsuit once it was clear that the youtuber wasn't going to give in to their demands.
The other way to look at it is that HN is too small to go after as in it would cost more in lawyers than they could recoup, possibly.
Good luck fighting against a team of lawyers with virtually unlimited budget. If you're lucky you might get a cash settlement but they'll still be screwing everybody else with impunity.
