You won't receive that clarification. This company has already taken funding and have to profit somehow. First it was the browser plugin, soon it's who knows what. You're not getting an answer, and that's likely very intentional.

"We're changing this to comply with a court order / settlement." seems fine to me. I don't think anyone would be angry at them, since they didn't want to do the change nor would be "lying" to users about why they do it.

Nothing was “fixed” - this is a horrible breach of trust!

So first they’re telling people they must upgrade, then they change their mind and add this option. However, people who have already upgraded because they thought it was the only option are getting screwed now, because they no longer are given this option. I feel like this warrants a complaint with a bunch of consumer protection agencies.

Isn't this an abuse of the system, breaking the contract about what kind of changes will be pushed on users without their knowledge?

ehsankia Apr 7, 2018 View on HN

Can't they just claim it's an upcoming feature they are testing internally before release, that will be rolled out soon?

You’re assuming you’re getting the full story vs just cherry-picking the app deletion violation.

I would say they are changing the promise, not breaking it. Breaking it would have been if they sold data with the old description (which is not the case, is it?).

How does this fuck over customers or third party devs in anyways?

The detail that they also reassured the people with offers that their offers would not be rescinded two weeks ago is wild. Did they expect this not to leak? Why weren’t they transparent about this total about face in the initial announcement?https://twitter.com/teamblind/status/1532769735393169410?s=2...The only thi
