The number of tourists in London getting the underground distances that are less than the distance down to the train and back up...
Nonsense. People in london regularly commute to the city via train from similar distances.

You're not wrong, however we now finally have the Elizabeth Line which gets rid of that entire headache and you get air conditioning too! :)

Looks like there are more non-metro trains currently running in London, than in all of Canada & US
Did you try this on the London Tube,ideally at rush hour :-)
Look at South London - train to suburbs is normal
