Wouldn't KeePass + syncthing be just as ubiquitously available, with more security?
Or just use KeePassXC+nextcloud/syncthing as others have suggested, it's just an encrypted database with no cloud bullshit.
I think he's talking about 1password. You can sync to dropbox or any folder (that can be controlled by dropbox/spideroak/sshfs/nfs/whatever)
I see no reason to move away from my synching/keepass setup, it's worked reliably for years and I expect it will continue to do so regardless of what happens with these services. It's nice they exist for less technical users but it's not for me.
I use KeepassXC, sync the DB via file syncing, no 3rd party servers to trust.
Have you tried KeePassXL with SyncThing? I've heard good things about that setup.
The KeePass unhosted ecosystem seems to fit your requirements. I recently switched to it from 1Password and am happy with it. I distribute the database to my various devices with (open source) Syncthing.
Exactly. It's like KeePassXC. It's a local app but the syncing of your password file is on you. You can choose to sync it however you want. You can choose to use Dropbox/Google Drive/etc or choose not to sync at all. The benefit you have a choice and you have complete control of the data/file. Nobody can take that away from you.
I use keepassx and synchronize the file with dropbox (including across mobile). It works well enough for my purposes.
KeePass with the KeeFox and chromeIPass browser extensions. Synced in dropbox, using password+keyfiles that aren't in the cloud anywhere. A bit slow on mobile, but can adjust down the rounds of encryption if it gets too annoying.
