Why does Mozilla insist on Pocket?
Mozilla owns Pocket. Why wouldn’t they include their own service in the browser?
Firefox fixed this for you. They bought pocket and turned it into a paid product.https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/news/mozilla-acquires-po...
Mozilla acquire Pocket a while back. That might address your concerns, depending on what those concerns are.
Firefox added Pocket, and kind of nobody wanted it. So it happens in FF too.
You know they own Pocket right?Pocket is basically their version of Read Later, etc...And it’s completely optional whether you want to use it or not. So I’m not sure I understand this complaint.Mozilla’s first integration of Pocket was poorly done, and rightfully raised complaints. But since they have purchased it, a lot of those complaints have been resolved.
installed firefox recently and it's showing me recommended content from Pocket.bro not cool. I don't want your backend recommendation engine tracking what I'm doing.(online or off)(and, yes, I disabled it, as well rewired the pocket-relevant urls to example.com)
Firefox bought Pocket. So it's a first-party feature.
Why can't Mozilla open source Pocket?
Mozilla acquired pocket in 2017. Probably one of the reasons they push it heavily.https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/news/mozilla-acquires-po...
