I've browsed this site for years now, and I do see this pattern in many posts that critique China.A large number of replies turn the conversation towards how the West is equally bad or worse. Another set of replies talks about how China may inevitably come out ahead. You can check yourself by Googling 10 HN threads that critique China, versus say, Japan or Poland. Is China running some indirect social public relations in the style of Russian Facebook ads for Trump? Or is it simply

It's not odd at all - once you understand the goal is to smear Chinese again.Look at comments even in this topic - there's already ranting against China here. Not even HNers cared enough to read about who stole what. The propaganda objective has been reached.

Do people in hackernews understand GOP is doing anti-china propaganda campaign before the election. CIA has back channels everywhere. The OP history is like a list 1000 anti-china posts. Even reuters reporter history is staggeringly one sided. Please see for yourself. How many of you have been to these places being discussed?

It's not a secret or a conspiracy that the US puts out propaganda. What does China's propaganda have to do with my comment? You are changing the subject.

The current US administration clearly wants to pick a fight with China.Massive resources are spent manipulating media including social media. And the biggest spenders are the established political parties and governments of the west.Maybe what you are seeing is just randomness and confirmation bias but as the saying goes just because you are paranoid it does not mean that you are not being followed.

That seems wrong. Every mainstream American news publication is doing anti China propaganda. Major politicians are using China as something scary they can protect you from to win elections. Even on HN, you get one or two anti china posts everyday.

I'd put good money that this was a black flag article pushed by the USA.It seems out of character to go from "I'm not trying to get anyone hurt/in trouble, just showing the public what's wrong." to "Here's some info about China WHAT NOW USA!?"

Feel like there is excessive scaremongering about "China" from US based media publications off late, with a "and this is how China ffukkd us" twists.Perhaps it would be wise for people to keep that filter in mind (as this is how mass manipulation works folks).

Because it's a trend to bash on the government of China. People don't really care why they're doing something in a trend. You'd be amazed how powerful propaganda is, and how frequently it is used in all countries across the globe.Ironically you'll be labelled as a "shill" or "propaganda bot" for questioning the trend. Though it is great to hear when someone does so.

Have you been to China, talked to its people often, or do you get most of your sentiments online from other commenters and through news?I'd argue there is US mass media manipulation. There's simply clear monetary (and nationalistic) incentive in riling Americans against an evil enemy. In my eyes, the US paints China as evil just as much as NK paints US as evil. Do you not think it's propaganda that all the news is one sided, have you not considered a scenario where Americans mi
