Big Tech Surveillance Ties

I'm surprised they haven't gotten more flak from large companies and governments about their telemetry.

"Everyone spies on everyone" isn't an argument in favor of using companies with known ties to the military or intelligence, though...

The text indicates that they are trying to spy on the company, not the users. And this is a logical attempt if you don't trust the companies masters. Isn't china basically doing the same with every company, just in other ways?

The problem is those companies are involved in mass spying, so I suspect they knew which side their toast is buttered.

This is an American company - we should be suspicious of their intent with all of this data on their network, as it'll likely end up in the hands of the NSA.

It's not normal, even if there is such a connection. If there is such, it's way more powerful if it's kept in secret. In which instance does the CIA benefit more? If people believe that GAFAM are a front of the CIA and thus enemies avoid GAFAM products? Or if enemies of the CIA use GAFAM products, believing that data collection is only done to improve ads?

Maybe don't blindly trust a corporate entity that doesnt have your interests at heart snd had been oroven before to be cooperating with the NSA and foreign state entities

It's a spying tool for American corporations far more than it is one for the government.

I don't want to be a Luddite, but every time one of these FAANG companies makes advances in this domain my mind immediately goes to how they will use it to better spy on people, for commercial and government interests.

You do realize that Microsoft, Apple and Google also have an "army of eyes and ears". But, good luck believeing they will not be used against you.
