Why not use PostGIS for geo-spatial data?

allan_s Apr 11, 2023 View on HN

For geospatial you actually have postgis extension which is a battle tested solution

IIRC, Postgres has fairly advanced GIS support...

Does it use postgres or other databse and store the spatial data in-db?

a comparison with postgis (pros and cons, most appropriate use cases etc) would be quite informative

Postgis and many other libraries exist. They are widely used.

Yup, PostGIS. Also using GeoDjango.

Does it support spatial objects / can it replace PostGIS?

insert_nick Jan 30, 2025 View on HN

Any chance it’s going to support PostGIS, with a map to show geometry data?

Are you using a geospatial database?
