I was annoyed at how all the key data about games was spread out over multiple sites and not easy to see quickly. Ballreport shows the days upcoming nba games and the key data about the teams, odds and players. Its very basic at the moment but updates daily and i will be adding more functionality soon.
Very impressed with your NFL data tool, check out this company, they may be interested in your technology: http://www.hudl.com/
Any sports stats apis. The ‘why’ is that you ultimately turn that stuff into a table anyway.
Awesome side project. See you're using Crossfilter. Sports data seems like natural fit. As a huge football (American) fan, and former player in college, I know how valuable down/formation data can be when trying to come up with a game plan. It would be interesting to see who's signing up for your beta ;)
You know how sportscasters always have some sort of weird statistic to pull out of their ass, like "Brett Favre has never lost a game, at home, with the temperature less than 34 degrees"? Is there some sort of API or query system so someone at the networks can throw this shit together out of the raw data in real time?
I can't wait for the day when sports statistics are easily accessible to amateurs. I'd rather not illegally scrape basketball-reference and just pay somebody to get an api.
Ugh, STATS has an API but it doesn't appear to be available unless you're a paying customer, which looks difficult to be because there is no online sign up.
Don't forget fantasy sports tracking!
Cool, is there any tool like this for NHL?
there are several of them on youtube. the most popular being related to sports statistics (e.g. SB nation)
