It is not tied to camera apps - you can just upload any image you have in the gallery. Also, you can upload from the web
Doesn't the Google Photos app do that?
I never really had any problems with sharing/showing photos, don't see the purpose in this app.
Photostream syncs pictures between devices. Both Directions. It's basically flawless.
