Need to pay for those massive lawyer costs somehow.

scarface74 Jan 21, 2020 View on HN

No the result will be a lot of money for lawyers and a few pennies for the actual litigant.

Lawyer's fees will be higher dollar all around if loser is forced to pay.

You are over complicating the issue and misunderstanding it. Quite simply the loser of a law suit typically bears the costs of court fees and legal expenses for both parties unless a different arrangement is negotiated. How high those expenses are are irrelevant to this issue and are generally not known before or during trial.

A judge will be annoyed and/or amused. You will lose a lawsuit. It will be expensive.

vacri Jun 24, 2011 View on HN

It's not guaranteed, but it's common for the judge to order costs to be paid by the losing party. I'm really not familiar wtih the details of the system, sorry.

You realize it costs time and money to sue?

You have to spend high five figures in legal fees to adjudicate that, and you may lose anyway, and even if you win someone else can swoop in and re-litigate things.

I think the concern is that it costs money to lose a lawsuit, too.
