Try going on a hike sometime...
Backpacking (in the wilderness - not across cities)
No - stay on trails in high traffic areas and know the basic Leave No Trace principles:https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/
I'm talking about going camping for a few days every now and then as a change of pace. And about how in hiking there is no summit that ends your pursuit - you can find another hike or do something longer if you're keen. You appear to be talking about people getting lost in life and death situations.
Is there a TL/DL for that segment? Going backpacking this weekend and this whole forum has me worried...
Try going camping in a remote area with those methods. Wonβt work. Different people have different transportation needs.
that seems like it's outside of the scope of "extremely incapable hikers who just want to go 1 route from A to B with no danger" unless there's a super chill trail or something
Note to self next time I go backpacking in the Rockies.
YesOf course if you go completely off-trail for days all bets are off.
Which is a great reason to stay off the beaten trail.
