Not in SF, rents are taking a huge dip while housing prices are not moving (or even going higher :/)

SF has rent control, why isn't it working?

SamReidHughes May 13, 2021 View on HN

The situation in many apartments in SF has to do with rent control.

lrajlich Jan 9, 2020 View on HN

Counter argument: SF has one of the lowest vacancy rates in the country. https://sf.curbed.com/2019/3/21/18276227/vacancy-rate-san-jo... This article is promoting a bad faith argument used by anti development activists.

omgbear Oct 10, 2016 View on HN

In SF at least, new buildings are not under rent control

hackeraccount Jul 4, 2019 View on HN

Wait. Doesn't San Francisco have rent control?

ashray Mar 24, 2016 View on HN

Is there no rent control in SF or other US cities? How do people get priced out?

GhettoMaestro Oct 1, 2019 View on HN

Yes. Rent in SF is off the charts. Also they (California in general) have a major homeless (housing) crises. Lots of NIMBYs blocking new building developments because of "their view".
