Can we have a feature where we block users who reply to people complaining about ad blockers rather than just voting them down?

This site needs a solution to bad commenters that doesn't result in discordant comments like this.

Feature suggestion: a time delay on new accounts being able to post a comment. Would prevent trolling like this.

Why not give user options? Like Reddit used to by giving user ability to block / filter certain topics.

The rule of thumb is "don't feed the troll", many communities have tools to block a problematic person.

you could have option to anonymize posts just by removing the name of the poster, pretty sure that would be enough for some maybe even majority and off-load lot of work from you to pay attention only to those who want remove posts completely

If people promote a lot of bad comments, we'll take away their ability to promote them.

sigh, do I really have to deal with the presence of such lowly rated comments? Can't we get an autoblock feature running here?

One idea: introduce some cost for entry. Some popular sites have switched to invite-only write privileges, including comments (yes, there is precedent with trendy tech sites). Similar but less elitist: you have to do something to post or comment, like show your profile on other sites. Not perfect, but from my experience a lot of potential troublemakers chill out when faced even with simple hurdles.

User flags can do that. There’s also a flamewar response algorithm that reacts poorly to, for example, ideological wars between differing groups. You could email the mods using the page footer’s contact link and let them know that you’re seeing unusual behavior in the site; they can look into further, but might otherwise miss your comment here without the email.
