It's true, I could afford to retire now (I am <40), but I expect to keep working until I'm completely unemployable (or physically incapable). It's just more fun than anything I've found in my free time. I do work at FAANG btw so it can't be that bad ;).

I have a similar story. Although not quite as old, accomplished or rich, i started as a teenager and could retire comfortably at 50. One thing I don't see mentioned by others is that ultimately, helping and giving to others can bring huge meaning to life.
