Switching to windows and expecting an improvement from MacOS is silly. I switched to Linux from MacOs in 2015 and never looked back. I cam dual boot into Windows, but do so less than once a year these days.

I never intended to switch away from Mac OS; it just sort of... happened. As Mac OS has grown more paternalistic over the years without adding any notable capabilities that I care about, it's felt steadily easier to just go use Linux instead. It has its own frustrations, but it can always be made to do what I want, and then it just behaves. Starting around Ubuntu 16.04, I found that the balance of frustration was tipping; these days I don't really bother to use my personal Mac any more

My experience:I came from windows to MacOS so despite what folks bemoan about MacOS ... I still love it and it is problem free enough that I don't feel the need to do the lifting to go to Linux.I think that's a common thing for those of who maybe haven't ridden MacOS for so long.Windows for me is on a whole several levels of worse when I have to dive back into it. Windows feels like an OS POINTED AT ME rather than for me.

I too have switched from Linux to Mac in the last two years. Every OS has its annoyances, but the problems you describe are minor/few compared to the problems I experienced routinely on Linux.

I switched to a Mac after spending 15+ years mostly on Linux, and haven't looked back. It really improved my productivity, because most things Just Work. It isn't perfect, but it is significantly less broken and insane than either Windows or Linux.

I feel like Apple has forgotten what makes their Macs so successful, which is the seamless experience. I always wanted to own the latest one but not anymore, will stick with Linux.

YMMVI switched from Mac to WIN a few years ago, because maintaining MB Pros became a nightmare, after having had six burned mainboards (with Macbook Pro devices each) within 3 years. I had definitely enough. Happy my former employer had to shell out the money for repairs/replacements. But each time getting back into a workable state with my backups still took north of two days. And while for my day job I still need to use Windows, for my freelance business I am using Linux for quite a

I moved from Linux to OSX a few years ago. The smoothness of 3-finger swiping between full-screen windows and just the smooth UI / build quality of the Macbook is what I liked the most. Also the battery life!I am now considering a Hackintosh. Don't want to put in too much time maintaining it though so still not sure about it.

After 17 years of using Linux I realized that I was tired of tinkering with shit, so I caved and bought a macbook air. Not even two years later I was back on Linux, because I realized that the amount of tinkering I do on Linux is actually very small; the experience I already paid my time for means that Linux is simply easy for me to use, while MacOS is a pain in the ass in innumerable small unexpected ways. The path of least resistance, for me, is to continue with Linux.

Long time Windows user, went to Linux because Windows just wasn't good anymore... and recently to OS X.
