yeah no shit, apple only wants you to run macos on their hardware.
Apple won't support it, therefore support and maintenance will be working around apples proprietary hardware and special drivers. Linux is not meant to live in that environment, I'd argue bettering support for other OEM's is a more fruitfull goal.
Apple's Linux support is spotty, at best. It is certainly possible to find more suitable hardware.
Please open macOS to non Apple hardware. I'd actually buy a license for that.
That’s an incredibly entitled viewpoint. The separation between OS and hardware is arbitrary - one where due to a historical trend but Apple isn’t obliged to provide that to you. Purchase accordingly.
What's wrong with running Linux on Apple hardware?
Does this practically mean I will be able to replace macOS on Apple hardware with Linux with Apples blessing?
Has Apple ever officially stated that they support running Linux on Macs?
Why are Apple using Linux instead of macOS?
Somewhat surprising since unlike their customers, there's no license restriction to Apple running macOS on different hardware. Maybe they didn't want to maintain a separate fork only for internal use. And having their own OS makes it more challenging to port apps to AWS/Azure.
