It's not faster than the M1, is it?
Point me at a processor as good as the M1 and I'll buy it
The Apple M1 processor should be used as a benchmark. Not other Intel processors.
Yes, but the per core performance favors the M1.
Many reviews show the M1 chips offering double the compilation speed of intel based macs.
Why not? It's still a 10-20% performance improvement over the M1
Without doubt, the Apple M1 has the highest single-threaded performance of any non-overclocked CPU, being a little faster than AMD Zen 3 and Intel Tiger Lake.Nevertheless, because Apple has chosen to not increase their manufacturing costs by including more big cores, the multi-threaded performance is not at all impressive, being lower than that of many much cheaper laptops using AMD Ryzen 7 4800U CPUs.So for any professional applications, like software development, these new Apple computer
My M1 MacBook is significantly "faster" than my previous Intel 16", even though the per-core performance are roughly similar in CPU benchmarks (small advantage to M1).I saw a previous HN comment about this being due to memory bandwidth and cache latency, but I can't seem to substantiate that comment. That being said, I'd love to have this sort of performance out of servers. Absolutely. Performance is very noticeable even between the current MBP Intel vs. M1
Try changing it to compare the M1 against a 2080. This is only one generation behind yes? If I could just paste a pic in I would, but I will let you do the work yourself. It is similar. Amazing IMO, and I am no longer an apple fan.
