In the past week it’s been discovered that the virus has spread in two developed countries - South Korea and Italy. Already a bunch of countries have created travel restrictions and it’s only a matter of time until the restrictions increase. If a similar outbreak is discovered in the UK while you are there, you might become subject to similar restrictions. You’d be unlucky if it happened while you are there, but it wouldn’t be shocking. We’re trying to predict the policy response to an unknown f

The whole country is now under a travel ban, so there should be plenty of areas that don't have the virus still, and without further travel, hopefully will never get it.

You don’t need international borders for travel restrictions, see China.

Many do. With protocols around not having travelled to infected regions.

Maybe start by looking at limiting international travel? The UK are the only countries that have a stay at home lockdown but no international flight ban and testing at arrival.

The country most ravaged by COVID-19 where the spread is entirely localized, requires international passengers... good thanks.

you can close land borders just as you can close air borders. the threat model is average joe unknowningly carrying the coronavirus on their vacation / business commute, not some special op team sneaking into the country.

Most probably people not staying in quarantine or still get infected in transit somehow.

Since the travels from abroad are all stopped now, there is less chance for the virus to get there. Maybe they'll be lucky enough to be the last ones without the large outbreak, and all the others being locked down won't bring it there?

Ridiculous response - travel bans are not effective (the strain is definitely already here) and punish countries for transparency.
