Maybe start selling your services instead?

Sell something. Anything. Not just software or online. Just like in code, it takes 10,000 hours of practice. If you need help getting started shoot me an email. No bs or strings.

Great. I wish you every success but if I might offer some suggestions you need to figure out what expensive problem you are solving and sell that solution. Persuade people you can save them a lot of money or make them a lot of money and sell based on the value you can provide for them. Not a coder for hire. Sell based on value, not capacities.

I'm sure his intentions are good, but he could of said this in less than a paragraph. I think we're (HN) all competent on basic promotion/seo/ads/domains skills IMO. Selling related products, doing custom work and consulting seem to be the most ROI.

I like this route. I can write well and I'm well-educated, so I feel like I have information that MUST be valuable. I just don't know how to identify / sell it. I know it's probably hard to give specifics without knowing what I want to sell, but can you give me any advice on how long generating such a product might take (how long it took you in the beginning, perhaps?) and how you might pick such a product?

I'd recommend a niche software product, preferably one with recurring revenue, but you could do it with a day or two of consulting if you have skills and contacts.

You should start a consulting business or startup and offer this.

Hire people on upwork to promote it for you and when you've connected with them sell them the same tool for their own needs.

Maybe you should try selling something people need? Seems like what you're peddling is stuff most freelancers already have.

Aha ok. Without knowing the product it’s hard to advise, perhaps you can start a youtube channel around it, become the go to expert in the field? Sell consulting? Sell follow on products or services?
