Have you looked at using IntelliJ instead of Eclipse? I've not used it, but it might be more of what you're looking for.

Eclipse is horribly bloated. Many, many developers have moved to IntelliJ IDEA.

Use eclipse for a while, you won't think intellij is heavy anymore after that.
Eclipse is a lot better than it used to be but still has hallmarks of open source applications (confusing UI, giant feature pile). IntelliJ is great but it costs money for the full version. It's closer to a Visual Studio style experience.

I tried IntelliJ and came back to elegance of Eclipse. Nothing beats Eclipse.

Jetbrains took the #1 spot from Eclipse many years ago. The free community edition is fully capable.
