Are you sure you got your info right? I'd not be surprised if they've been stuck at $60 after adjusting for inflation, i.e. costing around $30 in 1995.
That explains why everything seemed so cheap. Adjusting for inflation, $2,000 in the early 70's is around $10,000 today.
Yeah, adjusted for current inflation, it's probably closer to $150,000 now.
