Are advertisers really paying that much?

they are certainly not charging less for targeted ads, the opposite is true.

agscala Feb 23, 2012 View on HN

My guess is the value of you seeing the ads is probably worth more to them than whatever you're willing to pay to stop seeing them.

gowld Mar 14, 2020 View on HN

Are you sure ads cost that much?

lotsofpulp Jan 23, 2020 View on HN

The ads for paying users are probably worth a lot more than for non paying users.

llukas Feb 4, 2019 View on HN

Forcing higher cost to serve ads is not a bad thing...

mav3rick Nov 16, 2018 View on HN

The money you would likely pay would be less than what they can make by selling you ads (as a whole). If you were willing to pay > $1000 for software and services there was no reason for companies to maintain an Ad business.

LunaSea Mar 19, 2024 View on HN

This is incorrect as companies will pay less for ads that convert less.

manigandham Jun 9, 2019 View on HN

You're underestimating how much ads pay.

What would you pay to see a GOOD ad?
