WSJ, Economist, FT and New Yorker are all western publications, and way closer to providing an balanced journalism. Guardian destroyed their own reputation in the last two years by openly publishing paid pieces and propaganda, even advocating for property seizure (see all their articles on “nationalization” of FB). Economist/New Yorker on the other hand are great examples of a quality left-biased publication.
Same. I am thankful that for some unexplicable reason, my residential IP has free access to The Economist [1]. I still click on The Guardian by habit, but it has become a left-leaning clickbait site, far from the glory days of the Snowden revelations.1: even as an "anarchist" I confess that op-ed journalism like The Economist's is often more objective because of its economic point of view, than if it was driven by political ideology like the vast majority of newspapers. They routinely repeat that their editorial policy is liberal. Straight up in the articles they publish, they note that.I listen to their articles and they often repeat this.Literally typing this into Google would have provided you with the link to their website.https://www.economist.com/news/2020/06/19/frequently-asked-q...</
You're just saying you don't like their editorial. So.. don't subscribe! There is no trickery here.Far left.. you really have no idea how silly you look. There is almost no institution in the USA which actively publishes a broadsheet newspaper you could call left, let alone "far" left. Middle of the road looks pretty left from a ranty right view maybe.(I'm a Guardian subscriber btw)
The Economist has become an opinion piece.
In other words, prestigious means never stepping far from the public opinion and lightly coloured with the opinion of your party of choice. The Guardian is left-leaning, so this means neverending support for Labour, LGBT, climate, veganism and women issues given a boost in priority. The Economist, another prestigious newspaper I am familiar with, this means alignment with the Western neoliberal policies and monetary theory. If it's coming from the Bank of England, ECB or Federal Reserve,
The Guardian is an English newspaper with a political agenda on the left side of the spectrum. So articles like this serve to support a narrative its readers feel comfortable with. Similar to Fox News.
Right, wsj is quite leftist as well. That’s the problem with media - ideally it should be balanced instead of pushing particular agenda, whether it’s left or right. To be fair, the Economist was close to it for some time. I was a fervent reader, but it was hard not to notice systemic decline in quality over years.
I'm getting downvoted for my post, so perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough. I know there are numerous left-leaning publications that are unreliable, like the Huffington Post. But there are ample others, like the NYT, Washington Post, San Jose Mercury News, etc. I can read instead. I realize none of these publications have a perfect track record, but they are relatively transparent in admitting to and correcting their errors. On to the point of whether publications like the Eco
